EHRC seeks responses for disability harassment inquiry
The Equality and Human Rights Commission is seeking the views of women's organisations as part of its formal inquiry into disability-related harassment.
The inquiry is investigating the causes of disability-related harassment and what public bodies and public transport operators should be doing to prevent and eliminate it. The commission's previous research, Promoting the Safety and Security of Disabled People found that disabled women were at greater risk of experiencing harassment than disabled men.
As part of the inquiry's terms of reference it will consider how characteristics such as gender, race and sexual orientation interact to influence experiences of violence.
In addition to submitting evidence via the commission's website, organisations can contribute to the inquiry by encouraging service users who have experienced harassment to complete the commission's questionnaire.
All information is available in alternative formats and the commission will endeavour to make all reasonable adjustments to faciliate evidence-giving. The closing date for responses is Friday 10 September
